General Procedure for International Student (for degree seeking)

International students who wish to seek a degree from CNU should follow the procedures given below.

Eligibility Requirements Foreign students who have graduated from a high school in/outside of Korea
  • a) Master's Degree Program: A foreign student who holds a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited four year university.
  • b) Doctoral Degree Program: A foreign ?student with?a master's degree or ?equivalent from an accredited graduate school

Applicant who achieved above Korean Test Score, they must achieve Level4 or higher on the TOPIK before graduation)

Level 4 or higher on the TOPIK or TOEFL(PBT 550, CBT 210, IBT 80), TEPS 550, TOEIC 650, IELTS 5.5 or Confirmation Letter for Research Capability(from CNU prospective professor)

If a student have an admission through confirmation Letter, he must submit Topik level 4 or higher or TOEFL(PBT 550, CBT 210, IBT 80), TEPS 550, TOEIC 650, IELTS 5.5 before thesis evaluation

Admission Criteria The admission will be determined by initial document review and the interview. Based on the documents applicants submit, all the professors of the relevant departments do an overall screening in a meeting and decide successful candidates, those who receive score over 80 out of 100. If needed, the relevant department can conduct a written test.?
Required Documents
  • a) Application Form (download forms on http://ipsi1.cnu.ac.kr:8090/site5/: after completing the online application, print it out and submit it along with the required documents to the Office of Admissions, CNU)
  • b) Study Plan(CNU form 2)
  • c) Personal Statement(CNU form2)
  • d) Graduation Certificate and Transcripts of High School : Graduation certificate of High School and Transcripts of College is needed for transfer student.
  • e) copy of passport(copy of alien registration card, if available)
  • f) Letter of Consent for Academic Verification?
  • g) Affidavit of Financial Support ?-?Sponsor's Bank Certificate with a balance of more than USD 10,000?-?Sponsor's Certificate of Employment or Certificate of Business Registration
  • h) Employment Certificate or Business Registration of the Financial Sponsor)
  • i) Citizenship ID card : the applicant nad parents
  • Government-issued document equivalent to resident Registration Records and legal documentation verifying applicant's family relationships j) Additional material, if any, required by the department.k) All the official documents not in English or in Korean must be translated into English or Korean and notarized.

    • Sponsor's Bank Certificate with a balance of more than USD 10,000(for over 30 days deposit period to the application date). Parents can be a sponsor only(except in some countries?攀?? 椀? ???攀 ?????爀椀攀??cept in some countries?攀?? Business Registration攀?物?椀?椀???攀 ?椀?? ? 戀t for Academic Verification(CNU form6)
  • j) Citizen ID card : the applicant and parent(居民證)

    the following is only for Chinese citizenship applicants

    • 1)Government-issued Family Census Register (常住人口登錄簿)
    • 2)Notorized Certificate of Family Relationship(親族關係公證)
  • k) For Fine Arts, Music and Physical Education Applicants : Portfolio of performances
  • l) Additional material, if any, required by the department.
  • m)All the official documents not in English or in Korean must be translated into English or Korean and notarized.

General Procedures for Exchange Students (for non-degree seeking)

Eligibility Requirements

An applicant for this type of admission must be an undergraduate or graduate student of the university that has academic exchange agreement with CNU. With approval from corresponding college, exchange student needs to file completed application and all supporting documents in the Office of International Affairs by due date. Individuals who meet all applicable admission criteria will be notified of an admission decision as soon as possible following the completion of their application file.

Criteria of Admission

  • Recommendation by the home university of the applicant
  • Permission from a relevant department in CNU
  • In general, the admission of exchange students is decided by mutual agreement with corresponding International Office of the student's home university.

Required Documents

  • Application form (available on the Office of International Affairs web site)
  • Copy of passport
  • Certificate of Enrollment.
  • Transcript
  • Essay of your study objective (either in English or Korean).
  • One letter of recommendation (by director of International Office or delegates)
  • 4 photos (with plain background)
  • Certificate of Health (Only to prove that you do not have Tuberculosis)

Tuition, Room / Board

Tuition: Basically waived from tuition under the agreement between the student's home university & CNU. Room & Board: The fee might be student’s own responsibility or waived depending on the detailed exchange agreement between student's home university and CNU.
